The London House Hotel at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive was formally known as The London Guarantee & Accident Co. Sitting at the site where Fort Dearborn once stood, built in 1923 with a Beaux Arts Tower and a trapezoid shaped footprint, the building was once home to the fabled London House Jazz Club. A most recent owner was Crane Communication, who sold it for development in 2013.

The 168 North Michigan Avenue building was designed and built by architects Marshall and Fox in 1916. It was the Federal Life Building for many years. As shown in each of these etchings, the building with the terra cotta façade on the left will become part of a high-design lifestyle hotel with 200 rooms. Opening is scheduled in early 2018. The building on the right is the Smurfit Stone building. Looking eastward, the center building is the Prudential Plaza Building across Michigan Avenue.
